Singapore youths favour safeguards over social media ban

Nearly 80% of young people surveyed by YouthTechSG oppose a social media ban, despite widespread concerns about addiction, cyberbullying and harmful content. More than 70% say they would bypass age checks, even as many acknowledge age-based restrictions could be effective. The findings come as Singapore prepares legislative measures to strengthen safeguards for young social media users by early 2027. Aslam Shah reports.
