No transition period for changes to P1 registration taking effect from 2027

03:28 Min

There will be no transition period for changes to the Primary 1 registration that will take effect from next year's exercise. Education Minister Desmond Lee acknowledged in parliament that families might have made housing plans based on the current system, but implementing the changes sooner will allow more families to benefit from wider access to schools. From next year, 12 schools will split their Phase 2C places into two tracks — one for children living within 2km and another for those further away. Sabrina Ng reports.
