Motion: Valerie Lee on securing Singapore’s food future

10:20 Min

Singapore has been diversifying its food sources, but it must also strengthen its supply chains. This means deepening its global food partnerships to not only secure food, but design pathways for the food to reach Singapore when it is needed. It also involves identifying and activating the strategic logistics capacity - storage, cold-chain transport and distribution - that will be required when disruption occurs. MP Valerie Lee said this in parliament on Wednesday (Sep 9). She also highlighted food rescue as being part of food resilience. Calling for a systematic approach, she asked the government to work with relevant agencies to identify suitable land or spaces that could be used for food rescue storage.
