US President Donald Trump celebrated his 80th birthday on Sunday (Jun 14) by staging a cage fight on the White House lawn, hours after announcing a peace deal with Iran.
The icing on the cake for the birthday festivities of the oldest US president ever to take office came earlier as he said a peace deal with Iran was now "complete".
The specially built makeshift arena for the martial arts tournament cost US$60 million, with the White House saying the UFC covered the full cost.
Critics have derided the cage fight, saying it is a tacky debasement of the White House by a president who has repeatedly shattered norms during his time in power. Supporters defended the event, arguing it reflected American culture.
