Indonesian landfill burns for over a week
Firefighters in Indonesia have been battling a blaze at the Jatiwaringin landfill in Tangerang regency, Banten province, for more than a week.
Authorities have declared a state of emergency over the fire. To support firefighting efforts, the environment ministry has deployed drones and carried out air quality monitoring around the landfill.
Residents first reported smoke on June 28, before the blaze intensified on June 30.
Despite the thick smoke, scavengers continue to collect recyclable materials from the burning landfill.
