Living off-grid | How To Make Natural Bird Feeders

While we wait to start planting our forest garden, we started to clear out some fallen trees in the woods as the snow begins to melt. Now it’s spring, we have a lot of new visitors at the cabin. This week I make some natural plastic-free bird feeders as the temperatures hover around -3 to 5 °C. Using foraged and up-cycled materials, you can attract a lot of wildlife to your home.

Follow our real life journey as we renovate a 120 year old off-grid farm. Renovating the old log cabin (timmerhus), barn, land and building a new tiny cabin. Our goal is to become self-sufficient on a working farm. We relocated to Jämtland, in the North of Sweden from Scotland. Got a mortgage on this old dry cabin that has no connection to the electrical grid, plumbing/sewerage, heating or mains water. Join us to see if it works out, or not….

This is 100% reality of living off-grid and setting up a homestead on a low budget. We face the difficulties of a foreign land, lack of money and no friends and family here to turn to. No expensive tools or equipment have been used to film or build.
